We have an opportunity for a C1 Communications Manager, on a 12 month temporary level transfer to cover maternity leave, to join the Project Delivery Branch of Transport Scotland’s Infrastructure Projects Directorate which leads the delivery of the A9 Dualling Programme. The post reports to the C3 Head of A9 Dualling Programme Delivery. The post holder would be responsible for at least 1 B3 Strategic Communications Manager.
Transport Scotland’s A9 Dualling Programme is part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to completing the dualling of the A9 between Perth and Inverness, connecting Scotland’s cities with a high quality transport system that will generate economic growth. Work continues across the route with live construction contracts and advance works, and procurement of further sections.
Responsibilities

The A9 Dualling Programme Communications Manager is responsible for providing oversight, management, support and direction on communications issues to the A9 Dualling Project Delivery team, including supporting Ministers and managing all communications associated with the delivery of the A9 Dualling Programme and a team of strategic communications managers.

Implement and update the Communications Strategy for the A9 Dualling Programme, oversee delivery of communications around key Programme and project milestone outcomes and commitments, prepare forward plans of media engagement opportunities linked to programme milestones/benefits, and coordinate multiple strands of communications activity involving a range of internal project teams, other areas of Transport Scotland, policy areas and the wider Scottish Government.

Support and work closely with Transport Scotland’s news team and partner with specialist external resources to deliver a range of communications to support clear, accurate and consistent messaging to all stakeholders, including facilitating Ministerial engagement to maximise outcomes from the A9 Dualling Programme. Work with SG’s Marketing and Brand team to deliver marketing activity.

Support Transport Scotland’s news team (including participating in the communications on call rota and supporting major resilience events); flexibility required to work across the Directorate as priorities and projects dictate.
