Job Description

Culture for Climate Scotland believes in the power of the arts and culture and screen sectors to help achieve sustainability in Scotland and the world. They inspire, illuminate, communicate, educate, entertain and encourage new ways of thinking and shared experience – all attributes needed to tackle climate change. That’s why we support individuals and organisations in these sectors to be sustainable themselves and to lead and influence climate action through their creative work, including by collaborating with environmental experts and organisations working directly on climate change.

We are a nimble, positive, influential and growing charity in a dynamic field. We are experiencing great demand and enthusiasm for our work in carbon emissions reduction and climate change adaptation from both the cultural and the climate change sectors. We receive significant annual funding from Creative Scotland, the public body that supports the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland.

If you’re a people-person with experience of planning and delivering events and training, this is the perfect role for you.

In this role, you’ll coordinate the development, delivery and evaluation of training and events within Culture for Climate Scotland, working across our Green Arts, Screen and culture/SHIFT programmes, and contribute to wider Culture for Climate Scotland activities.

Responsibilities are:

  • Delivery of existing training workshops introducing our work.
  • Development and delivery of online training workshops for people working in Scotland’s arts and culture and screen sectors.
  • Development and delivery of in-person and online events to connect cultural organisations with one another, and with relevant local and regional climate stakeholders, to further their climate work through collaboration.
  • Delivery and monitoring of an online self-directed course for Green Arts Initiative members based on a pre-existing project plan.
  • Support for environmental reporting, Green Arts Initiative and screen sustainability delivery through provision of prescribed guidance to organisations such as reporting specific guidance and the Green Arts Charter.
  • Contributing to the wider Culture for Climate Scotland delivery including externally commissioned talks and workshops, and bringing together relevant research and knowledge.
  • Contributing to the wider Culture for Climate Scotland team in response to the organisation’s strategic and administrative needs.

We’re looking for somebody with:

  1. Experience in developing and delivering training programmes
  2. Event management skills and experience
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  4. Excellent organisational skills
  5. Excellent research and IT skills
  6. A commitment to equalities, diversity and inclusion, and an understanding of climate justice.
  7. Flair and imagination.
