Job Description
Overview
Our Defence and Security team provides design and engineering services for nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. We’re seeking an HV Designer/Power Systems Engineer to design large industrial facilities such as power station buildings, manufacturing facilities and dockyards. Hybrid working is offered, with 1 2 days in the Glasgow or Reading office and occasional site visits when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and design projects, monitoring ongoing processes and coordinating the project with the delivery team.
- Lead or work with a team of electrical engineers/designers in developing and reviewing engineering deliverables throughout various stages of the project.
- Conduct site surveys and condition assessments to determine requirements.
- Perform calculations and evaluations in the design of HV/LV systems and equipment for industrial and commercial applications.
- Design associated control and protection systems, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and electrical interfaces.
- Prepare plans and drawings, functional and technical specifications, and contract documents.
- Collaborate with clients and project team members.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance, including being a UK national.
- In depth knowledge of electrical engineering up to 11kV and interfacing with 33kV.
- Experience with HV generation/distribution systems and associated control and protection systems.
- Experience in HV/LV network design and analysis using industry standard software (ETAP/AMTECH).
- Experience preparing technical reports for electrical designs, with commercial awareness.
- Experience in a contracting environment and relevant site experience.
- Willingness to travel and relocate when required.
- Good, accredited MEng degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
