Experienced Mechanical Engineer – Pressure Vessel Specialist
Salary: £60,000-£80,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Locations: Glasgow, Bristol, Burton on Trent, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Manchester, Plymouth (flexible hybrid working)
Job Overview
The Frazer Nash Asset Integrity Team seeks experienced mechanical engineers specialising in the analysis and assessment of pressure vessels, providing expert guidance for defence, aerospace, energy and transport assets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and present technical guidance on the safe and efficient operation of mechanical assets.
- Perform analysis of new designs and support life extension projects for safety critical plants.
- Conduct finite element analysis, fatigue, fracture and fitness for service assessments of pressure vessels in accordance with industry codes and standards (ASME, BS, API).
- Lead project delivery, including forming multidisciplinary teams and ensuring customer requirements are met.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
- Travel as required for site visits and plant walk downs.
Requirements
- A degree in engineering (MEng, MSc or PhD desirable).
- Proven experience in mechanical/structural engineering with a focus on pressure vessel analysis.
- Experience with FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys or LS Dyna.
- Familiarity with codes and standards: ASME III, ASME VIII, API 579, BS 7608, BS 7910, R5/R6.
- Strong project management, client relationship and business development skills (advantageous).
- Ability to travel for site visits and plant walk downs.
- UK National Security Vetting clearance (pre employment screening).
