Support Worker – 01/Largs/MK

Location: Largs, North Ayrshire. Shift: 24/7 support, including sleepover hours (8 hours per night) and additional 2:1 hours for activities.

Job Purpose: Encourage, reassure and help the client to take pride in themselves and their surroundings. Support socially and emotionally while promoting well being and the ability to live a happy, healthy and enjoyable life.

Responsibilities

• Support the client’s independent and fulfilling life and assist participation in activities that are important to them.
• Assist with domestic chores: washing, ironing, keeping home and car clean and tidy.
• Assist with personal care routine and medication administration.
• Drive the client’s car – requires a full UK manual driving licence.
• Budget finances for weekly shopping and outings.
• Support meal preparation and encourage a healthy, well balanced diet.

Essential Requirements

• Full UK driving licence (manual).
• Strong, clear verbal communication skills.
• Professionalism, high standards and strong values.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Patience, empathy and ability to adapt to change and remain calm in stressful situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Prior experience in support for people with learning disabilities and autism is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: £14.59 per hour for day hours; £13.46 per hour for sleepover rate.

Annual leave: 5.6 weeks annual leave and AIL entitlement pro rata.

Probationary period: 6 months, with a 1 week notice if the post does not work out.
