A caring and reliable Support Worker/Personal Assistant is sought to provide emotional and practical support to a gentleman living in Kelso. This rewarding role involves offering companionship, emotional reassurance, and supportive engagement to promote wellbeing, confidence, and independence.

The position also includes supporting the gentleman while attending Place and Space on Thursdays, where assistance with personal care will be required. The successful candidate should be compassionate, patient, respectful, and able to provide consistent and person centred support in a calm and professional manner.

Vacancy Details

Location: Kelso

Hours: 5 hours per week

  • 4 hours emotional and psychological support
  • 1 additional hour support at Place and Space on Thursdays

Working Pattern: To be agreed with the employer; Thursday availability required

Rate of Pay: £14.05 per hour

Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks pro rata

Contract Conditions: Subject to satisfactory references and PVG check

Probationary Period: 6 months

  • Provide emotional and psychological support in a patient, understanding, and respectful manner
  • Offer companionship and supportive conversation to promote wellbeing and reduce social isolation
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in everyday activities
  • Support attendance at Place and Space on Thursdays
  • Provide discreet and dignified assistance with personal care as required during attendance at Place and Space
  • Build and maintain a positive, professional, and trusting working relationship
  • Respect confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries at all times
  • Work reliably and consistently in line with the employer’s preferences and support needs
