Consultant Rheumatology & General Medicine (Ref: CK242467) – NHS Grampian
Job Summary
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Rheumatologist to join our award-winning Rheumatology team at NHS Grampian. This replacement post covers 8 Programmed Activities (PAs) in Rheumatology and 2 PAs in General Internal Medicine (GIM). The department is based at Ashgrove House on the Foresterhill site and provides comprehensive services across a large geographic area, including the island of Orkney.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical services across rheumatology, including inflammatory arthritis, spondyloarthropathy, connective tissue disease, vasculitis, metabolic bone disease and transitional care/young adult clinics.
- Deliver care within the Ashgrove House outpatient clinic, day case facilities, osteoporosis centre, physiotherapy and occupational therapy services, and video conferencing facility.
- Collaborate within the Aberdeen Centre for Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Health (ACAMH) to support research and training initiatives.
- Co operate with a dedicated team of nurses and allied health professionals, fostering an interdisciplinary approach.
- Attend to 8 Rheumatology PAs (6.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA) without on call commitment, and 2 GIM PAs involving on call 1 in 5 weekends and out of hours cover 5 pm to 9 am the week before the weekend on call.
Qualifications & Experience
- Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC prior to starting.
- Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Eligible for CESR, Portfolio Pathway route or International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC.
- For doctors not listed on the GMC Specialist Register, a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) may be considered if no substantive appointment is made.
