The role
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our passionate and dedicated surgical nursing team within Ward 28, a 17 bedded Surgical Palliative Ward based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high quality patient centred care within a fast paced ward environment.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
- We have two posts available
- Permanent post – full time (days, nights and weekends)
- Part time post – fixed term for 12 months, 24.12 hours per week (days, nights and weekends)
- You will be based at Royal Alexandra Hospital
- Salary is pro rata for part time hours
Key responsibilities
As part of the team, you will be responsible for the assessment, delivery and supervision of patient care within the ward environment. You will assess patients’ needs and implement and evaluate evidence based programmes of care, ensuring the delivery of high quality standards at all times.
You will work effectively both independently and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to the ongoing development and coordination of patient care. The role requires a flexible and forward thinking approach, with the ability to adapt within a changing and dynamic clinical environment.
You will also have the opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge across a diverse range of surgical patients, with support and guidance provided to newly qualified nurses and those new to the ward or department.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required
- Excellent communication, organisational and decision making skills, with evidence of ongoing professional development
- Current Registered Nurse with the NMC
- Sound clinical assessment skills and the ability to deliver and evaluate evidence based care
