Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner

Location: ICASS, Intermediate Care Team, Randolph Wemyss Memorial Hospital

Salary/Banding: Band 4

Hours: 27 hours (0.7 WTE) 1.0 WT 36 hrs

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HCSW to join our Intermediate Care Team as part of the Integrated Community & Support Services (ICASS). The Intermediate Care Service provides rehabilitation to the adult population within the locality. This will be delivered to service users in their own homes or as out-patients.

The primary function of this role will be to work with the Physiotherapy Service within Intermediate Care to deliver therapeutic treatment programmes to service users in their own homes, preventing hospital admission and supporting early discharge from hospital. Therapists will provide specialist assessments to this patient group and allocate work to this post holder. The post holder will also be expected to hold their own caseload, assess, progress and discharge autonomously within parameters.

Qualifications:

  • HNC in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or SCQF level 8 (e.g. Postural Stability Instructor) or equivalent
  • Experience working in the NHS as a therapy support worker
  • Experience working with older people, who form the main group of service users referred
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, able to work independently as well as within a team

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team you will be expected to carry out ongoing treatment programmes for a mixed caseload of mainly older people.

Public Holiday working is in operation.

We offer regular supervision, PDP and support training opportunities.

The ability to travel throughout the area is essential for this community post.

There may be occasions where you will be required to work in one of the other community hospital sites.
