Educational Assistant – Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE)
Location: Paisley Road Public School (subject to change)
Hours: 32.50 hours per week – full-time
Salary: $30.92 – $36.74 per hour (plus applicable vacation pay) – effective September 1, 2025
Start Date: May 11, 2026
End Date: June 26, 2026
Reporting to: School Principal
The Educational Assistant must possess willingness and physical ability to work with all students who have diverse needs, including behavioural, medical, and physical requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for the behaviour, safety, medical and physical needs of students.
- Perform duties such as lifting, toileting, positioning and transferring children and equipment, and applying BMS techniques.
- Work with students individually and/or in group settings.
- Demonstrate flexibility, patience, empathy and collaboration with students, classroom teachers, parents, and administration.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications
- Educational Assistant Diploma or equivalent formal education in child development or special education, along with related work experience.
- Post secondary Degree in a related field a plus.
- A valid Behavior Management Systems certification (required).
- Recent experience working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities (strongly preferred; school based experience an asset).
- Training in Autism Spectrum Disorder and lifting/positioning.
- Physical capability to perform essential duties such as lifting, positioning, transferring children and equipment, and use of BMS where required.
- Reliable transportation and ability to attend the designated school.
