The role:

Public Protection Nurse Advisor – join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Public Protection Service. Work within a board wide team to promote a high quality, safe and effective public protection service and support the delivery of the NHS GGC Public Protection Strategy – Safeguarding – It Matters to Us.

Duration, Location and Working Pattern:

  • This is a full time post (36 hours)
  • Working Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00
  • The team is based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital site; training and clinical supervision are carried out at sites across NHS GGC.

Key responsibilities:

Provide clinical leadership, specialist professional advice and support, and case supervision to a wide range of staff.

Commit to working collaboratively across professions and agencies and to make evidence based decisions.

Collaborate with the Chief Nurse, Head of Public Protection Service, Public Protection Lead Nurses, Lead Paediatrician, Public Protection Medical Lead, and Administration Staff.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Nurse or Midwife with a first level degree, significant post registration experience, and evidence of postgraduate study at Master’s level.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Child Protection and/or Adult Support and Protection.
  • Significant experience working with children, young people, families, and/or vulnerable adults, with relevant clinical experience and a sound understanding of Child Protection and/or Adult Support and Protection practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the policies and legislation underpinning contemporary child and adult protection practice and recent experience applying this knowledge in practice.
  • Willingness to undertake further study in child and adult protection where required to meet individual development needs.

Working Hours Note:

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part time working hours will be reduced on a pro rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.

Work Life Balance:

Flexibility in working hours is available where service needs allow. For roles with less than full time hours, flexible working arrangements will be discussed during the recruitment process.
