Project Worker – Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre, Edinburgh Role

The Rapid Re-accommodation Welcome Centre provides emergency accommodation with support to anyone who would otherwise be rough sleeping in Edinburgh. Following an incredible lifesaving winter season starting in 2025, the Welcome Centre will continue operating for a further 11 months, through to 31 March 2027 in the first instance.

We are looking for Project Workers to join as:

  • Day Shift Project Workers – 7:45 am to 8 pm, up to 39.375 hrs a week
  • Twilight Shift Project Worker – 6 pm to 12 am
  • Twilight Short Project Worker – 7:45 pm to 12 pm
  • Night Shift Project Workers – 7:45 pm to 8 am, up to 39.375 hrs a week

The Day Shift Project Worker role involves working 12 hour day shifts (usually seven on/seven off). You will work alongside partner agencies to build support plans for individuals staying at the Rapid Re accommodation Welcome Centre, to help move guests onto more suitable long term accommodation.

The Night Shift Project Worker role involves working 12 hour night shifts (usually seven on/seven off). You will take directions from the night shift team leader, who will distribute tasks throughout the night. Tasks may include supporting volunteers as they serve hot meals to guests in the dining area, watching over the entrance to the Rapid Rest Again Welcome Centre, looking after reception, answering guest questions and keeping paperwork updated.

The Twilight shift roles involve working up to 6 hour twilight shifts. Please refer to each role’s Job Descriptions for specific tasks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with the vulnerable
  • Understanding of mental health and addiction issues
  • Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour
  • SVQ Level 3 in Care/Promoting Independence or equivalent is desirable
  • Administrative skills and experience with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to respond to a changing environment
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate records

  • Starting salary: £14.95 per hour
  • Contract: Fixed Term – Ends on 31 March 2027
  • Holiday entitlement: 225 hours per year pro rata
