Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic Senior or Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Energy group and the wider hydrogeology team within Stantec. This position will require you to work within multidisciplinary teams to support small and large projects across the UK and internationally. You can potentially be based in Reading, High Wycombe, Bristol, Shrewsbury, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, or Edinburgh (other locations are available for the right candidate).

Responsibilities

  • Support and deliver hydrogeological and environmental aspects of varied contaminated land and quarrying/mineral industry projects within the UK.
  • Contribute to or deliver Hydrogeological Risk Assessments, Hydrogeological Impact Assessments, and Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Conduct field-based monitoring/sampling, drilling supervision, pumping test supervision and analysis, data analytics, scripting, numerical groundwater modelling, geochemical modelling and hydrochemical analysis.
  • Accurately quantify groundwater flow using analytical methods and various water modelling packages.
  • Produce high quality technical reports and communicate findings to clients, colleagues, and regulators.
  • Manage projects within set deadlines and budgets, and develop strong working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Hydrogeology MSc or relevant PhD and/or considerable postgraduate experience delivering hydrogeology related projects.
  • Experience with Hydrogeological Risk Assessments and Hydrogeological Impact Assessments.
  • Experience in the quarrying and minerals industry, including field monitoring, drilling, pumping tests, and numerical modelling.
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Solid grasp of regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency.
  • Commitment to obtaining chartership if not already chartered; progress towards chartership must be fully supported.

As a key team member, you will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, project management skills, and the ability to build and nurture client and regulatory relationships. You will lead by example, support junior colleagues, and contribute to the strategic growth of the hydrogeology team.
