Job Description

The role
This role will undertake the supervision of staff cleaning patient areas, clinical and non clinical departments, offices and administration areas to comply with NHS national standards of cleanliness, mop laundering and porter/messenger services within the health care environment. Responsibilities include allocating staff resources, auditing services, inputting payroll information, planning and carrying out staff training, liaising with service users and department leads. This is a working supervisor role where carrying out cleaning tasks is included.
Operational locations
Services are provided across New Victoria ACH, WGACH, Stobhill ACH, Stobhill Mental Health (Forensic, Adolescent and Adult/Older Persons) and Community locations across the North and East of Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire, which includes 3 ambulance stations, a decontamination unit, 12 health centres and 8 resource centres with approximately 360 staff.
Duration, location and working pattern
- Location: Kirkintilloch Health Centre
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: 19.44 hours per week (part time)
- Shift pattern: Monday to Friday, 16:30 – 20:30
Please note the salary is pro rata for part time hours.
Visas and Sponsorship
No Band 2 roles are eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa or Health and Care Worker visa routes. For Band 3 roles, only posts of 32 hours per week or more may meet eligibility. NHSGGC cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship for roles that do not meet these criteria, and applications requiring sponsorship will not be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and assist in all aspects of integrated services ensuring work schedules are followed
- Supervise staff to ensure they maintain safe systems of work
- Ensure high standards of personal and general food hygiene are achieved throughout the department
- Report any faults to line manager
- Ensure staff only use equipment and materials as instructed
- Supervise staff to ensure they work in a safe manner and consider others around them
- Counsel staff regarding performance and document outcomes
- Assist in the organization of staff rotas
- Help arrange cover for staff absence
- Carry out and support staff with PDP process
- Deal with client complaints in the first instance
- Ensure self assessment is carried out
- Ensure team briefs are held
- Ensure all paperwork associated with the position is completed within prescriptive timescales
- Ensure all statutory and divisional procedures are followed
Knowledge, training, qualifications and experience required
- Knowledge of all aspects of integrated services as defined in the job purpose (induction training provided)
- Training on the use of all machinery used (training provided)
- Knowledge of health and safety (training provided)
- Knowledge of COSHH (training provided)
- Knowledge of lifting and handling (training provided)
- Basic food hygiene certificate (training provided)
- Knowledge of infection control practices and supervisory training (training provided)
- Driving licence is desirable
