Our Water Team in Scotland is delivering a diverse and high-impact portfolio of projects that are shaping sustainable and resilient water systems for generations to come. We recently secured the Scottish Water SR27 Enterprise bid – the highest value venture ever put into place by Scottish Water, reshaping Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years).
We will be at the heart of this ground breaking delivery model, shaping design excellence at scale and working with Scottish Water and our Enterprise Partners to drive outcomes that deliver value for customers in Scotland and go beyond net zero. This major win offers a unique opportunity to support this programme and work alongside a talented, diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency.
Position: Principal Mechanical Engineer in one of our Scotland offices, with hybrid work days available.
Responsibilities
- Prepare feasibility studies, outline design, detailed design and provide construction support.
- Produce plant layouts, design drawings and mechanical plant selection including specifications, WIMES Data Sheets, valve schedules, equipment schedules, lifting strategies, hydraulic headloss calculations and P&IDs for water projects.
- Liaise and collaborate with our water and other discipline teams (civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers) nationwide.
- Visit sites to conduct surveys and support liaison with clients, contractors & suppliers.
- Lead and contribute to design review meetings such as HAZOPs, HAZIDs, ALMs and SWIFTS.
- Act as Mechanical Lead on projects including WwTW, WTW and infrastructure, supporting the Project Manager and Design Lead to deliver the Mechanical scope to programme and budget.
- Assist the Project Manager to set realistic programmes and budgets for mechanical projects.
- Serve as a line manager for Mechanical Graduate, Engineer and Senior Engineers.
