Registered Nurse – Midgley Ward

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our friendly, supportive and proactive team on Midgley ward. We are an acute medical ward with a respiratory speciality.
You will be calm and able to treat your patient holistically, willing to get to know your patient and their families to enhance their care and be proactive in meeting the needs of the service.
You will be able to manage patients on Non Invasive Ventilation and Optiflow, rotating into our Newly developed Respiratory Support Unit.
Training and Education with competencies will be provided.
You must be committed to providing high quality care to acutely ill patients with complex needs and possess effective communication skills and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The post offers the opportunity for personal and professional development.

Main duties of the job
Work as a registered nurse within a team responsible to the team leader/shift coordinator caring for patients and their carers.
Fully utilise the learning opportunities available. You will gain an understanding of the physiological, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs of the patients and their carers and develop a broad spectrum of clinical proficiency to deliver nursing care.
Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, their carers, visitors and staff.
Comply with the Trust’s values and expected behaviours.
Understand, interpret and nurse patients on non invasive ventilation and high flow nasal oxygen.
Person Specification Qualifications and training
- Registered Nurse Adult
- Current/awaiting registration with NMC
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of working in a ward environment
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload for self and others
- Knowledge of Respiratory conditions, NIV/CPAP
- Experience of working in an acute environment
Specific Skills
- Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care
- Management of an acutely ill patient
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary team members
- Evidence of working well within a team
- Ability to demonstrate motivation
