A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Community Mental Health Nurse to join the developing Urgent/Emergency Care Mental Health Service in the stunning rural location of Lochaber.

This role offers the chance to work creatively and compassionately under the guidance of the Urgent/Emergency Care Lead, providing high-quality support to individuals presenting in mental health crisis to A&E, Police colleagues, and GPs within the locality. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in mental health assessment and treatment facilitation, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills. A strong understanding of risk assessment and the ability to formulate and deliver care plans are essential.

You will be part of a responsive, person-centred service, delivering high-quality urgent and emergency mental health care. Effective multi-disciplinary working is central to this role, and you will be expected to build strong relationships with partner agencies including Police Scotland, A&E departments, and local GPs to support safe discharge planning. There will also be opportunities to contribute to training delivery for these partner agencies.

The post holder will play a vital role in supporting the wider multidisciplinary team and the other Urgent Care Practitioner, working collaboratively to ensure safe and effective care within the community.

There is an expectation that the urgent care service will move to seven-day cover; therefore the successful candidate will be expected to work weekends.

A relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to the successful candidate for eligible expenses. The Community Mental Health currently operates 5 days per week.
