Midwifery Team Leader (Band 7)
An exciting opportunity is waiting for an enthusiastic and motivated Midwifery Team Leader (Band 7) to join our welcoming NHS Highland Women and Children’s Service – Community Midwifery Teams.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about providing high quality midwife led care and who is ready to take on a leadership role in one of the most stunning parts of Scotland. As Team Leader, you’ll oversee the day to day running of the Community Midwifery Team and Community Midwifery Unit in Broadford, Skye & Lochalsh, and you’ll also offer support to other teams when their leads are unavailable. You will play a key role in supporting staff, managing resources, and providing autonomous, person centred care to families across the area.
This is a varied role with an 80% clinical / 20% management split-ideal for someone who enjoys hands on practice while also developing their leadership skills.
The post is 29.6 hours per week, fixed term for six months, and we’re looking for someone who brings excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills. Flexibility, teamwork, and a positive approach are essential.
There is an on call commitment, supporting the Community Maternity Unit and the Home Birth service.

The Skye & Lochalsh Community Midwifery Team is a small, friendly, supportive group of dedicated midwives. We’re looking for a Team Leader who will enjoy being part of a close knit team and who is excited about the opportunities that come with remote and rural practice.
You’ll work across the Community Midwifery Unit at Broadford Hospital and Portree and in the wider community, supporting both local births and home birth. When higher risk care is needed, you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues at Raigmore Hospital Maternity and Noenatal unit in Inverness (approximately 110 miles away).
We work flexibly to provide a 24/7 service, and you’ll need to travel between different work locations to meet the needs of the service and the operational demands.
A full driving licence and access to a car are essential for this role, and you will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations to meet the operational requirements of the service.
