Job Description
Female Support Worker / Driver – P/T (6 hrs weekly) – Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire
The position is to assist with social support for a young lady who has Cerebral Palsy and is a full-time wheelchair user. Work includes 1 evening shift per week and 1 weekend day or evening fortnightly, with a wage rate of £12.60 per hour.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the young lady during Boccia training sessions in Glasgow weekly and social activities every fortnight.
- Assist with planning activities.
- Help with communication during phone calls and provide patience due to stammer.
- Assist with car transfers, wheelchair pushing, and occasional personal care if required.
- Drive to and from activities, with business use required on own vehicle; mileage reimbursed.
- Provide companionship to the young lady and her small rescue dog.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in support work, preferably with people with mobility impairments.
- Moving and Assisting certificate (preferred).
- Valid driver licence and business use of own vehicle insurance.
- Patient, friendly, reliable, easy going.
- Comfortable taking phone calls on behalf of the client.
Additional Information
Interests of the client include fashion/modelling, disability sport, music and motorsport. The client enjoys socialising with peers in the mid 20s/30s range who share common interests.
Prospective candidates should have access to their own vehicle. The role includes a 6 month probationary period, with a one week notice if the position is not working out.
