Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) employs approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non clinical professions and roles.

Role

The Accounts Payable Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing high volumes of supplier payments and ensuring appropriate systems of control, while supporting the Financial Services function.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Caledonia House, Glasgow
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
  • Hybrid working policy – prepared to travel to the office when required

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate a team of Accounts Payable Officers; ensure control of financial information with completeness and accuracy within set timetables
  • Support the payment of invoices in line with prompt payment requirements
  • Provide supervision and training to staff in the Accounts Payable department
  • Ensure compliance and provide ongoing training on complex issues such as VAT recovery, Construction Industry Tax Scheme and HMRC issues
  • Liaise and communicate with suppliers, service users and key stakeholders
  • Resolve queries and differences on invoices, orders, goods received notes and outstanding payments
  • Support the regular reconciliation of supplier statements
  • Control payment runs and key interfaces into the finance ledger
  • Support the maintenance of creditor standing data
  • Manage staff conduct and performance within the team
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the AP Assistant Manager

Qualifications and Experience

  • NVQ3 qualification in a related topic (exceptions for candidates with excellent relevant experience)
  • Purchase ledger and financial experience, and experience using financial systems (desired but not essential)
  • Comprehensive training will be provided upon induction
