Job Description
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The post holder will act as a communication hub for all facilities management matters, and provide a comprehensive caretaker and reception service to support the Eastwood Heath & Care Centre and other HSCP services (Homecare, GP Services, Care of the Elderly, Physiotherapy and Podiatry). The role supports the existing part time Facilities Officer and may require occasional cross site cover at Barrhead Health and Care Centre.
The role
- Responsible for internal and external security of the building, checking all windows and doors, making regular tours, and managing alarms.
- Provide help desk reception and telephone duties, welcoming patients and visitors and directing them to appropriate departments.
- Act as a communication hub for all facilities management matters.
- Manage internal and external mail, including sorting, franking and distribution.
- Distribute supplies within the building, including District Nursing stores, domestic supplies, stationery and other items.
- Set up rooms and atrium for meetings, moving furniture and equipment as required.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Permanent part time post – 17.5 hours per week.
- Shift pattern: Monday 3:30 pm 7 pm; Tuesday Friday 2:30 pm 6 pm.
- Salary pro rata for part time hours.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part time working hours will be reduced on a pro rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
