Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Prescriber to join our Primary Care team at HMP Stocken, a category C Prison located in Oakham. HMP Stocken is a busy male prison with a capacity for 1300 inmates.

We are recruiting for a Social Prescriber to support the wider Healthcare Team with 1 1s with patients, supporting them with alternative therapies such as art or wellbeing activities. We are welcoming applications from newly qualified candidates.

HMP Stocken offers free parking, free on site gym, and a bistro on site for which you can have subsidised meals. The prison is not on a direct bus route so you will need your own transport.

Hours

0900 – 1700. This role is two days a week; you can choose which two days to work between Monday – Friday.

Salary

This position is part time. You will receive an annual salary up to £33,510 per annum FTE, depending on experience. The salary would be pro rated for the part time hours on offer.

Main duties of the job

  • Build professional relationships with the people you are helping by listening carefully to what is important to them and what motivates them.
  • Connect people to activities and services within the prison, and support and motivate patients to access opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing.
  • Liaise with key healthcare staff, build and maintain relationships with a range of prison departments, charities and third sector providers to promote social prescribing and ensure opportunities are available within your sites.
