Job Overview

A Multi-Skilled Technician delivers best-in-class planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance activities across Spirit Supply Processing on the site, which comprises of Blend Centre, 3 x Tank farms, Tanker stations, Spirit preparation area, Vatting Halls, Demin plant and Chill plant . He or She will contribute to Continuous Improvement activities

Main Duties & Responsibilities Key Tasks

  • Responsible for the execution of agreed planned/corrective maintenance tasks on their shift and take an active role in improving the way we carry out maintenance. This includes logging work done so that faults/problems/defects encountered are captured in the CMMS along with parts used and time spent.
  • Maintain the asset inspection and maintenance programme ensuring compliance with all safety / statutory legislative requirements and best practices.
  • Follow relevant quality SOP’s to ensure the first-time quality of our products, service is guaranteed when equipment is returned to production and all work is carried out to the correct engineering standards.
  • Assist both, Spirit Supply coordinator and Site Services Coordinator in the prioritisation of work orders. Recommend and advise on Preventive Maintenance improvements and spare parts requirements in order to achieve maximum availability of plant & equipment. Support plant optimisation initiatives.
  • Where required, liaise with and support external suppliers/contractors for both Spirit Supply and Site Services. Support PTW requirements for any work by contractors (Maintenance and projects).
  • Suggest improvements to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our assets.
  • Actively participate in Lean Manufacturing, Reliability Centred Maintenance and continuous improvement processes relevant to maintenance excellence and demonstrate commitment to site philosophy.
  • Maintain work area to 5S standards. Ensure it is maintained in a safe and effective condition.
  • Be aware of all relevant team KPIs and understand how you can contribute to improving them.
  • Assist with asset projects from concept and design through to implementation, testing and final handover ensuring that asset drawings and registers are updated to reflect the changes
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities within Spirit Supply Operations
  • Identify and participate in training to assist in your own personal development and to improve productivity. This will include CompEx capability with knowledge of working within hazardous areas covered by the ATEX regulations.
  • Provide first-line asset support for any breakdowns on the Westthorn site
  • Be proactive, ‘walk the floor’, challenge under performance, monitor trends and respond appropriately with an effective solution
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations within the workplace and strive to eliminate any potential hazards before they become accidents or incidents
  • Role may require occasional travel/coverage at Poniel site

Employer Expectations Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Must have served a recognised apprenticeship as a minimum.
  • A multiskilled role requiring both electrical and mechanical skills, with a stronger emphasis on electrical.
  • Comparable position within the spirits industry, or FMCG engineer, or service engineer, or commissioning engineer
  • Experience of instrumentation and PID loops.
  • Experience working on 3ph motor controls, VSDs, and Servo drive control systems
  • Experience working with a DCS system or large BPCS/SCADA systems (Ideally PCS7 but any Siemens experience is advantageous)
  • Sound mechanical fitting techniques and skills. – Pumps, Valves, Pipework, Hoses, etc
  • Working with Fluid transfer systems / Pneumatic systems / Hydraulic system
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behavior.
  • Have flexibility (including overtime if required) and maintain high levels of self-motivation to achieve high standards of performance and behaviour

Qualifications/Tickets/Licences Required

  • 18th Edition, and SVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical field (Essential)
  • CompEx Ex 1-4 (desirable not essential)
  • Proficient in interpreting and explaining electrical schematic drawings
  • Knowledge of electrical sensors and their applications.
  • PLC, Control systems and electrical panel fault finding
  • CompEx Ex11 (desirable not essential)
