Job Description

Our client is a Working Farm based on a Historic Estate based in East Leeds. They boast some of the rarest breeds in Europe, and they require a Farm Worker to join this very Historical site. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share in their passion for Farming and showcase your skills in Farming Skills. This is a Council owned property.

The role will be running through till the end of May 2026 and does have the chance to extend. The hourly rate is 13.69 per hour. Working 5 days per week, 7.5 hours a day.

The main purpose of the role is to:

To provide temporary farmworker cover to the client , including animal husbandry and forage crop production to a high standard. This will include the use of plant and equipment to undertake farm operations. The post-holder will be expected to facilitate work experience involvement to the college-supervised further education students based on site.
This post is designed to cover a temporary shortfall in the workforce due to review and on-going recruitment.

You will be providing the best care to farm animals by undertaking routine checking, feeding and medication
Cleaning of animal enclosures, pens, buildings and public access areas using machinery and / or manually as instructed
Undertake the movement of livestock. This will require animal handling
Driving duties with agricultural vehicles within the farm and estate, including tractor driving and loading with bucket, muck grab, bale spikes and pallet forks
Agricultural land operations and fodder production.

Key skills for the role:

Work effectively as a team member and on own initiative.
Carry out duties to a high standard of animal husbandry.
Access remote sites efficiently.
Ability to keep basic records relating to animal welfare
Knowledge of good animal husbandry and welfare needs
Awareness of rare breeds and their temperament
Experience of general agricultural or farm work
Experience in animal husbandry
Experience in the use of hand tools
You will require:

A recognised agricultural qualification or relevant experience
Full clean driving licence
