Chiller Service Engineer

Location: Glasgow (field-based across Central Scotland)
Salary: 38,000 – 50,000 DOE
Benefits: Company van, fuel card, overtime, call-out, pension, 25 days holiday + bank holidays
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

A leading building services and facilities management contractor is seeking an experienced Chiller Service Engineer to support a portfolio of commercial and industrial clients across Glasgow and Central Scotland.

This is a long-term, stable opportunity offering manufacturer-backed training, exposure to large commercial plant, and clear progression for engineers specialising in chillers and cooling systems.

Role Responsibilities

  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair works on chiller systems

  • Fault diagnosis on electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration components

  • Servicing, maintenance, and repair of:

    • Air-cooled and water-cooled chillers

    • Scroll, screw, and centrifugal compressors

    • Process cooling systems

    • Close control / precision cooling equipment

    • Associated pumps, valves, and controls

  • Carrying out pressure testing, leak detection, evacuation, and refrigerant charging

  • Working on refrigerants including R134a, R410A, R407C, R404A (and low-GWP equivalents)

  • Completing service reports, F-Gas logs, and statutory compliance documentation

  • Liaising with clients, site contacts, and helpdesk teams

  • Ensuring all works are carried out in line with:

    • F-Gas regulations

    • Health & Safety legislation

    • Company and site procedures

  • Participation in an on-call rota (typically 1 in 6 / 1 in 8)

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Chiller Engineer or HVAC Engineer with strong chiller exposure

  • F-Gas Category 1

  • Proven fault-finding capability on commercial chiller systems

  • Good working knowledge of electrical and mechanical components

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Comfortable working independently in a field-based role

Desirable:

  • Manufacturer training (e.g. Carrier, Trane, Daikin, York, Mitsubishi)

  • Experience with water treatment and condenser systems

  • Previous experience within facilities management, data centres, or critical environments
