The Opportunity
Rullion are recruiting experienced Overhaul Technicians to support the corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing and repair of modern rolling stock assets within a busy rail depot environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work on technically advanced fleets as part of a highly skilled maintenance and modifications team, supporting fleet reliability, availability and safety through planned overhaul, repair and continuous improvement activities.
The Role
You will undertake scheduled mechanical overhaul, modification and repair activities in line with the vehicle maintenance plan and agreed delivery schedules. Working closely with Team Leaders and Managers, you’ll play a key role in ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out scheduled overhaul and mechanical maintenance activities
Undertake rolling stock modification work to improve performance and reduce downtime
Support new train introduction and maintenance acceptance processes
Perform basic fault finding, rectification and repair as required
Accurately record work completed and materials used via the Maintenance Management System (MMS)
Ensure MMS records provide a clear auditable trail for reporting and analysis
Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across depot and fleet activities
Support production plans and work collaboratively with Team Leaders and Managers
Attend and complete all required technical and safety training
Adhere strictly to all Health & Safety processes and procedures
Be prepared to travel and stay overnight away from base location for short periods when required
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering or an Engineering-based NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
Experience working in a modern engineering or maintenance environment
Proven experience carrying out overhaul and modification work on Rolling Stock experience preferred
Strong safety awareness within an operational environment
Experience using modern Maintenance Management Systems (MMS)
Confident using modern fault-finding and repair techniques
Applicants from Aerospace, Heavy Transport, Electric Vehicles or Ex-Forces Engineering backgrounds are also encouraged to apply

Desirable Skills & Competencies
Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to read electrical, pneumatic and mechanical schematics
Experience with depot plant and equipment (bogie drops, presses, cranes, jacks, air systems)
Train driving, Depot Protection, First Aid or Fire Warden competencies
Full UK driving licence

Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Edinburgh
Right to work in the UK
Ability to provide proof of technical qualifications
Willingness to work days and nights on a rotating shift pattern
