Project Manager

  • Location: Site-based; Inverness, Scotland
  • Rate: 500 – 600 per day (Outside IR35)
  • Duration: 12-month rolling contract (2-3 years’ scope)
  • Start Date: ASAP

Turner Lovell are recruiting on behalf of an international engineering group delivering complex, large-scale energy projects, for an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of a 400kV grid-connected infrastructure project. The role will focus on the mechanical and electrical delivery of the project, with the civil works already completed.
This is a site-based, delivery-focused role with a strong client-facing element, requiring hands-on management of subcontractors and contractors on site. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and commercially compliant delivery of the M&E scope.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the on-site delivery of mechanical and electrical works on a 400kV grid connection project
  • Manage contractual obligations in line with NEC3 contracts
  • Support contract administration, change control, and claims management activities
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and opportunities
  • Provide regular progress, programme, and commercial reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Maintain a strong site presence, providing direct leadership to subcontractors and construction partners
  • Act as a key interface between principal contractor, the client, and wider project stakeholders
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Ensure delivery to programme, cost, quality, and HSE requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on major power, utilities, or infrastructure projects
  • Strong background delivering M&E scopes within complex construction environments
  • Demonstrable contract management and subcontractor management experience
  • Working knowledge of NEC3 contracts, including variations and claims
  • Experience in client-facing, site-based roles
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and drive delivery on site
  • Experience on high-voltage transmission or grid connection projects (up to 400kV)
  • Background working for a principal contractor or EPC organisation
