Client Information

Our client operates a busy automotive workshop supporting fleet and commercial vehicles. The site plays a critical role in maintaining service levels, turnaround times, and compliance across a high-volume operation. This position is key to ensuring operational control, technical standards, and effective use of systems.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy Edinburgh-based workshop. The successful candidate will have a strong background in fleet maintenance and proven experience using 1Link systems.

You will be responsible for managing people, processes, and performance, ensuring fleet vehicles are maintained efficiently, safely, and in line with contractual and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all workshop activities to ensure timely and efficient service delivery
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of technicians and support staff, maintaining high standards of workmanship
  • Schedule, authorise, and prioritise fleet maintenance and repair work using 1Link systems
  • Monitor productivity, job completion, quality control, and workshop KPIs
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures at all times
  • Liaise with customers, fleet providers, and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships
  • Control costs, manage budgets, and support commercial performance of the workshop
  • Resolve operational issues efficiently and support continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Workshop Manager or in a similar supervisory role within the automotive sector
  • Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance and repair processes
  • Proven proficiency in 1Link systems, including job authorisation and invoicing
  • Experience managing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume workshop environment
  • Full UK / EU driving licence required
