Job Title: Female Support Worker / Carer
Salary: £13.73 per hour (PAYE)
Shift Length: 80 hours- 9/2/2026 -18/ 2/2026 (8 hours per session)
Location: Private home setting (EH11)
Job Overview
We are currently seeking experienced, compassionate Support Workers / Carers to provide high-quality, person-centred care for an elderly individual in their own home. This role requires patience, reliability, and a commitment to supporting dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
You will play a key role in assisting with daily living activities, promoting mobility and safety, and providing emotional support to enhance quality of life.
About the role: The client is an 81 year old male with vascular dementia. He enjoys conversation and games like chess and dominoes, and needs assistance with daily activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respectful personal care, including assistance with washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Support with daily activities, including meal preparation, feeding support, and hydration.
- Assist with mobility, including safe use of a walker and general movement around the home.
- Observe, monitor, and report any changes in health or wellbeing promptly.
- Maintain a safe living environment, actively working to prevent falls and reduce risks.
- Encourage and promote independence, respecting personal choices and routines.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, communicating clearly and patiently at all times.
- Keep accurate basic records and follow all care plans and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Support Worker, Carer, or Healthcare Assistant, ideally with elderly care minimum of 6 months experience.
- Comfortable supporting mobility and individuals at risk of falls.
- Confident in medication support and personal care tasks.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
