Overview
CT Technologist seeking an experienced CT Technologist with advanced expertise in cross-sectional human anatomy as applied to spiral and multi-slice computed tomography (CT), including 3-D reconstructions, drainages, biopsies, and peripheral vascular exams. This position is at Northport VAMC, Northport, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of cross-sectional human anatomy for performing and interpreting spiral and multi-slice CT scans, including 3-D reconstructions, drainages, biopsies, and vascular imaging.
- Accurately interpret examination requests and apply methods/techniques to display and identify organs, stage examinations, and assess scan or image acceptability for diagnostic use. Emphasize diagnostic findings of interest and collaborate with Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (DRTs). Advanced ARRT certification is required for independent assignments in this subspecialty.
- Conduct specialized procedures including IVP, GI series, Modified Barium Swallow, and barium and air-contrast enema exams.
- Prepare and manage sterile supplies, local anesthetics, contrast materials, catheters, and other equipment for attending radiologist(s).
- Perform intraoperative portable imaging and portable c-arm studies, including supporting c-arm cases in Pain Management.
- Operate 320-slice and 64-slice Light Speed Computed Tomography Scanners with demonstrated competency.
- Perform Cardiac CT examinations with retro and prospective gating, as well as interventional procedures with CT fluoroscopy (e.g. lung biopsies, radiofrequency ablations, cryo-ablation, and microwave ablation).
- Conduct a full range of CT and general x-ray exams, both with and without contrast, and track reportable CT doses.
- Demonstrate applied knowledge in the use of intravenous contrast agents and associated hydration procedures in Radiology.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology
- Current, unrestricted license as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) CT.
- Current CPR Cert or BLS Cert (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as Radiology Technologist
