A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the HSCP eHealth team for a Network Specialist. The post holder will work within a small established, proficient IT support team to provide a specialised high level networking service to the HSCP covering all aspects of our data network and associated systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage and upgrade NHS Highland’s network hardware (switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure and telephony) including all hospitals, general practices and other health care sites within the HSCP.
- Installation and de-commissioning as well as firewall management and network infrastructure security.
- Work closely with other NHS Scotland health boards, public bodies and partners, plus Argyll & Bute Council ICT networking team when required.
- Carry out regular travel across the HSCP and throughout NHS Highland as required; periods of unsocial hours work may be involved.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of large scale network design, network protocols, cyber security controls, infrastructure hardware and hands-on troubleshooting of complex networks.
- Operate within large corporate network environments and communicate effectively with demanding users and eHealth management.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree/HND or equivalent level with at least five years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in large corporate network environments is essential.
- Excellent communication skills are essential for dealing with users and advising eHealth management on IT services, major incidents, or new requirements within the eHealth Digital Delivery Plan.
Working Arrangements
The post will involve regular travel across the HSCP and throughout NHS Highland as required and may include unsocial hours.
The eHealth Department is the development, application and implementation of digital technology to improve infrastructure effectiveness in healthcare for patients and staff services. It includes the use of local IT, cloud services and clinical systems used for diagnosis and care pathways, as well as policies and protocols that assure the confidentiality and security of sensitive data and support major change in working practices such as training, support and organisational development.
