Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant – EIA & Consenting

A leading, multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior or Principal Environmental Consultant to join its expanding team in Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional with experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and consenting to contribute to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and development projects across the UK.
This consultancy is home to a vibrant network of over 600 environmental professionals, offering industry-leading advisory services to clients facing critical global challenges, including climate change, rapid urbanization, and the transition to Net Zero. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the coordination and delivery of environmental services on multi-disciplinary projects, including EIAs, environmental appraisals, and environmental management plans
- Provide strategic input to deliver optimal environmental outcomes and high standards of performance
- Prepare and edit high-quality technical reports using data from various disciplines
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and client expectations with professionalism and confidence
- Contribute to business development activities including bidding, proposals, and identification of new opportunities
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the team’s growth and success
- Undertake continued professional development in line with relevant industry body requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or Master’s in an environmental or related scientific discipline (RICS, IEMA, CIWEM, CIEEM or equivalent accredited)
- Chartered status (or actively working towards chartership)
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience, ideally within a consultancy environment
- Comprehensive understanding of the EIA process and associated environmental technical disciplines
- Proven ability to write, review, and present technical content to a high standard
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and engage with clients effectively
- Organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment
