A1 Jobs is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established accountancy practice based in Lanarkshire. We are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to lead a dedicated team of bookkeeping and payroll professionals. Candidates with a strong accounting background particularly those experienced in management accounts, are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support a team of 9 bookkeeping staff, reviewing VAT returns for accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and analyse detailed management accounts and present findings to clients.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients up to trial balance stage.
- Process payroll, post journals, and prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Manage the preparation and issuance of CIS certificates and statements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client queries, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by introducing innovative ideas and streamlining processes.
- Participate in regular management meetings.
About You:
- Proven experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
- Strong technical skills in bookkeeping and payroll systems including Sage Line 50, Sage Cloud, and Xero.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
- Confident, approachable, and skilled in mentoring and supporting staff with varied personalities.
- Background in management accounts or general accounts is highly desirable.
