Work & Experience
In a clinical medicine department, my roles of a tutor and head of department (HOD) are crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of medical education and patient care. As a tutor in clinical medicine is primarily responsible for teaching medical officer students through a combination of lectures, clinical demonstrations, and hands-on experience.I guide students in understanding clinical theory, diagnostic skills, patient interaction, and treatment protocols. They provide mentorship, assess students’ progress, and offer constructive feedback. I also create a conducive learning environment, helping students navigate the complex medical landscape while encouraging critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and empathy in patient care. On the other hand, the Head of Department (HOD) plays a more administrative and leadership role within the department. AS HOD i am responsible for the overall functioning and strategic direction of the department, including managing faculty, resources, and curriculum design. I ensure that the department’s teaching standards align with national and international medical education frameworks.I oversees clinical rotations, coordinates between faculty and students, and ensures the integration of research and teaching within the department. I also represent the department in meetings with hospital administration and external bodies, advocating for resources, research funding, and policies that enhance both educational and clinical practice standards. In addition, I plays a role in maintaining quality control through assessments, audits, and feedback loops, fostering an environment of continuous improvement. Effective communication, leadership, and decision-making are essential for both roles to ensure the department’s success in educating future doctors while maintaining high-quality patient care.
