Job Title: Welder/Fabricator
Location: Livingston
Job Type: Permanent

Shift: Rotation of early, back and night shift
Salary: £38-39k per annum

STEM Recruitment are looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator looking for a new challenge. Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled professional to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of welding and fabrication tasks within a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform both planned and reactive welding and fabrication repairs on forging presses, furnaces, machine tools, and dies.
  • Support the site in achieving business objectives and operational improvements.
  • Ensure continuity of production and high-quality standards to meet customer expectations.
  • Set up and operate Sub Arc welding machines, ensuring alignment and adjustment as per blueprints.
  • Conduct welding repairs using materials such as Titanium, Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Inconel, and High Carbon content steels.
  • Preheat surfaces using hand torches or heating furnaces before welding.
  • Visually inspect welds for adherence to specifications and adjust machine settings as necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, including Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and 6S initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping within the workplace.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Time-served Welder with experience in Sub Arc Welding techniques.
  • Proven track record in fabricating work to a high standard.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Computer literate with the ability to record work progress electronically.
  • Comfortable working at heights and within enclosed spaces.
  • Previous industry or production experience is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding and application of safe working practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
