Logical Personnel Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading valve maintenance and engineering organisation.
We require a Workshop Supervisor to oversee a busy workshop in Aberdeen.
The role:
To provide the business with advanced skills to inspect, test, report, and repair valves, both in-house and on-site to the required levels of quality and safety, satisfying the requirements of the business and its scope of work. Assisting clients with troubleshooting and root cause analysis on valves, ensuring efficient and effective service provision. Supervising the technicians in the workshop and mentoring less experienced technicians to improve their skillsets
- Responsibility for the workshop technicians and their ongoing training and development needs
- Accountable for the safe and efficient work practices of the technicians within the workshop
- Participate in hazard identification and the generation of risk assessments to maintain a compliant and safe working environment and develop a positive health and safety culture
- Conduct regular 1:1s with technicians and take part in their six-monthly appraisals
- Work primarily within a workshop environment but may be required to mobilise to site or offshore in support of contracts or escalations
- Carry out the pre-test, strip, inspection, test, assembly, and commissioning of repaired or new valves to the appropriate standard and specification set in place by relevant supporting documents both in-house and on-site
- The completion of in-house and client specific repair documentation as required
- To ensure that the appropriate hold points/inspection points are adhered to, as 3rd party signatories/verification required
- To maintain an excellent level of housekeeping in the working environment
The person:
- Apprenticeship in relevant discipline plus 5 years post qualification experience preferred or
- HNC/NVQ in a relevant discipline
- Experience with repairing various valves, specifically Control / Relief / Isolation Valves and actuation, whether pneumatic, hydraulic.
- Familiar with most valve instrumentation including Pneumatic/Electronic (DVC) and associated ancillaries.
- Familiar with tools and equipment required to perform daily valve repair duties.
- Full driving license, as on-site maintenance will be required.
- Technical/specification writing and interpretation skills.
- Experience in a service-oriented work environment,
- Ability to problem solve service-related issues.
- Working understanding of ISO, ASME and API compliance regulations, codes, standards as well as other international codes/standards
- Understanding of material applications for variety of industrial/service applications
- Ability to accurately read, review and interpret manufacturing and electrical designs, drawing and schematics
