About Candidate
Within my current position I work for FARE Scotland a third sector charity within primary schools, nurseries and community settings as part of a Glasgow City Council and Active Schools Division, Glasgow wide initiative. Working alongside Thrive Outdoors and Inspiring Scotland.
As a coordinator my team and I deliver a program called Active Play which is funded in part the Scottish Government as well as Glasgow City Council, delivering both structured and unstructured play with the aim to improve physical literacy. As part of my role not only do I deliver a diverse and vital programme, but I also have responsibility for completing end of cohort reports which are done at the end of the GCC and Active Schools Division program detailing the attendances and levels of fundamental movement skills before and after the programme has ended. I log the statistics, analyse the data, use case studies as well as presenting key indicators as proof of the programmes success to ensure funding is secured for future years.
The programme has various other responsibilities such as, managing staffing, arranging meetings with head teachers and community leaders to encourage the acceptance of Active Play, using a diverse approach.
My job is to manage a team of play leaders, ensure appropriate training has been completed and is up to date, plan the delivery of Active Play and all social media exposure of the programme uploading and sharing widely within my business accounts.
I was previously a family support worker within a primary school with the company and aided in completing benefits forms, supporting young people and children with their mental health and social anxieties as well as the A-typical worries a child goes through in their lives, supporting families with bereavement and any issues including but not limited to monetary support to help with the cost-of-living crisis and money advice in general. I am also part of the Community Support and Development team in which we, support members of the local and further afield community, mental health and monetary support, advice and general support. The team and I also are part of a FAREshare food poverty pop up shop and during this we make food parcels for members of the local community which is on a non-referral/ self-referral basis.
This is alongside other provisions such as a teen club which I run once a week to encourage our young people to engage in initiative-taking and life serving skills and I have worked alongside Glasgow Kelvin College who also attended to allow our young people to gain valuable skills and qualifications. Last year I ran a summer programme as part of the Holiday Hunger Scheme with GVS of which over 1400 children attended, 1400 lunches given, 200 activities and gave the children in a Eastend of Glasgow the opportunity to receive a hot and healthy breakfast and lunch.
Due to constant reporting of our Community learning and Development team I am responsible for the continued monitoring and running of our Upshot system which allows me to gather the data required for reporting used mainly for the purpose of data protection and funding opportunities.
I am a proactive, efficient, self-regulated, whilst having a hands-on approach and have excellent time management skills which serve well in a high paced busy environment. I work well under pressure and have excellent decision making.
My time at university gave me the opportunity to gain invaluable skills in report writing and public speaking. This enabled me to build my confidence in myself as a professional and accept challenges head on.
