What we do.
A fantastic opportunity for a Logistics Section Leader has arisen to join the team at our Bo’ness site. Our Bo’ness site employs over 1,000 people and produces food-to-go salads and salad accompaniments to a number of customers. It is located 3.5 miles from Linlithgow and 8 miles to Falkirk.
About the role.
Reporting into our Logistics Section Manager, you will be responsible for the people, safety, quality, cost control and delivery of play in designated area of all stores, freezer, perimeter and grounds to ensure that others within the area fulfil their responsibilities.
Always ensuring these duties are completed in line with Company policies and standard operating procedures, including PPE, Food Safety, Health and Safety, ‘Clean as you Go’ and ‘Good Manufacturing Practices’.
As Section Leader, you will have line management responsibility for your section which will include training and developing your section as well as performance management including first level disciplinaries and absence management.
To be responsible for the people, safety, quality, cost control and delivery of plan in designated area of warehouse/despatch/logistics/end of line/perimeter/grounds/staff shop, and to ensure that others within the area fulfil their responsibilities.
Accountabilities:
Accountabilities within the role would include:
- Health & Safety – To encourage a safe working environment for all employees by supporting and enforcing standards as set out in the Group Health and Safety policy. Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of grounds, yard and perimeter, ensuring areas are healthy, safe, efficiently organised and have clean and tidy appearance at all times.
- Quality Standards – Ensure team are performing to quality standards in terms of GMP, food safety, product quality and presentation and housekeeping.
- Performance Management – People – Manage performance and attendance of the team including first level formal written disciplinary action, performance review, absence management (including return to work procedures)
- Training & Development – Identify training needs for each team member i.e. the specific skills needed to perform all activities associated with their roles.
- NPD – Participate in NPD processes and production trials where required to ensure that they run successfully
- Continuous Improvement – Manage improvement activities including KPIs and waste management.
- Communication – Undertake team briefs on a daily basis that focus on key performance measures aligned to local productivity and performance and to wider business issues. Conduct structured SIC reviews in accordance with Red Zone meeting protocols and guidance.
- Recruitment – In conjunction with HR participate in staff recruitment and induction processes and ensure new recruits receive the appropriate care, attention and engagement especially during the early stages of employment.
- Administration – Carry out necessary administrative tasks and produce data / reports as required including OEE, T&A, holiday management and any other relevant data
About you.
- Familiarity with food manufacturing environments
- Ability to prioritize and to work in a fast paced and highly pressurized environment
- To be a positive and motivated team player that possesses strong leadership skills. The role requires you to pay attention to detail. Ideally you will have previous experience working within food manufacturing in a leadership role.
- A logical and clear-thinking approach particularly under pressure
- To be able to demonstrate the Bakkavor Values
- Must be adaptable and flexible to working hours and areas, if required, may be asked to support as a Section Leader within an Operations area.
- Good IT skills
- Good numerical and verbal and written communication skills
