Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as Lead Design Engineer for bridges and ancillary civil structure projects
- Undertaking and checking the delivery of design solutions and associated outputs
- Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery
- Providing technical guidance, support, and training to colleagues
- Involved in projects from conception to completion, including:
- Supporting the Project Manager in clarifying project briefs and agreeing deliverables
- Establishing project checking and approval arrangements
- Managing internal project start-up meetings and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and control strategy
- Undertaking significant elements of the detailed design and checking outputs
- Assessing, documenting, and communicating design changes
- Reviewing completed projects and recommending improvements to technical policies and design solutions
Job Requirements:
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural engineering
- Significant experience in structures design, particularly with bridges and ancillary civil structures
- Proficiency with design to Eurocodes and DMRB
- Experience using structural design and analysis software such as STRAP, Autodesk Bridge Design, LUSAS or similar
- Strong project governance experience and a successful record of project delivery
- Ability to identify client opportunities and build productive relationships
- Fluent communication skills and the ability to produce clear reports in English
- Chartered Membership of the ICE or IStructE, or working towards chartership with imminent completion of IPD
- Possession of a full UK driving licence
