Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as Lead Design Engineer for bridges and ancillary civil structure projects
  • Undertaking and checking the delivery of design solutions and associated outputs
  • Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery
  • Providing technical guidance, support, and training to colleagues
  • Involved in projects from conception to completion, including:
    • Supporting the Project Manager in clarifying project briefs and agreeing deliverables
    • Establishing project checking and approval arrangements
    • Managing internal project start-up meetings and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and control strategy
    • Undertaking significant elements of the detailed design and checking outputs
    • Assessing, documenting, and communicating design changes
    • Reviewing completed projects and recommending improvements to technical policies and design solutions

Job Requirements:

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural engineering
  • Significant experience in structures design, particularly with bridges and ancillary civil structures
  • Proficiency with design to Eurocodes and DMRB
  • Experience using structural design and analysis software such as STRAP, Autodesk Bridge Design, LUSAS or similar
  • Strong project governance experience and a successful record of project delivery
  • Ability to identify client opportunities and build productive relationships
  • Fluent communication skills and the ability to produce clear reports in English
  • Chartered Membership of the ICE or IStructE, or working towards chartership with imminent completion of IPD
  • Possession of a full UK driving licence
