About us

The Regional Engineer will be a key member of the Regional Technical team with the drive and skills required to operate within the developing regional model. This will include the need to collaborate with their counterparts in the other 5 regions developing common ways of working whilst ensuring regulatory compliance and conformance to the central governance and guidance provided by the Poole Support Centre.

Your role

As a Regional Engineer, you will be required to:

– Provide rapid and effective technical helpdesk support to coastal staff and volunteers.
– Collaborate inter-regionally to develop common ways of working.
– Ensure that the design intent of RNLI plant, equipment and procedures remains in accordance with engineering design authority processes and standards.
– Track and manage engineering assurance status report actions and to progress resolution of issues.
– Oversee strategic planning for maintenance and defect rectification using regional resources efficiently.
– Plan and undertake technical investigations, troubleshooting, trials and analysis of data.
– Be an integral part of the Regional Technical Cell.
– Undertake other ad hoc duties as required.

About you

You ll be familiar with a variety of engineering equipment and it s design, production or support. Ideally, from a maritime background you will relish the challenge of resolving technical queries outside of your comfort zone. This is an ideal opportunity for someone seeking to develop their engineering career as it will offer you the opportunity to deal with all aspects of equipment be it mechanical, electrical, electronic or structural. You will be familiar with supporting documentation and processes across the whole engineering lifecycle. You ll be able to handle time dependent demands so that we can keep our lifesaving assets on service. You will be currently residing in the Scotland region.

You will need:

– Engineering Qualification level 6 in England or equivalent in Scotland, Wales and NI. ROI NFQ Level 7 in an engineering discipline
– Able to demonstrate working towards and an expectation to achieve Engineering Council registration at Engineering Technician level
– Health & Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely) – desirable
– Experience of working in an engineering environment
– Experience in marine equipment design, production or support

Regular travel across the region and presence in the regional office in Perth is required with occasional travel to the coast and other operating areas including Poole.
