Job Description

We are looking for a Costing & Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Livingston!

The Costing & Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for analysing and optimising manufacturing processes, estimating costs, and implementing cost reduction initiatives. They will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Production, Project Management, Procurement and Supply Chain, to ensure efficient and cost-effective production operations.

The Costing & Manufacturing Engineer will also play a key role in identifying opportunities for process improvement, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The role of a Costing & Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Conduct cost analysis to identify areas of cost improvement and recommend cost reduction initiatives.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimise production processes and eliminate waste.
  • Support Purchasing in identifying and evaluating suppliers to ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials and components.
  • Monitor and analyse actual costs versus estimated costs to identify variances and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and cost efficiency.

What we’re looking for in a Costing & Manufacturing Engineer

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of proven experience in manufacturing engineering and cost estimation, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills supporting the collaboration of cross-functional teams.
  • Systems Knowledge (ERP background)
  • High Level of Excel expertise with experience of CAD systems: Auto-Cad, Pro-E, Inventor, Solid Works etc.
