Job Description
- Leading and managing investigations and strategic litigation on children’s rights
- Providing legal analysis, advice, and representation to support the organisation’s statutory duties
- Collaborating across teams and with external stakeholders to influence law, policy, and practice
- Engaging directly with children and young people to ensure their voices shape legal work
- Instructing counsel, preparing legal submissions, and contributing to high-profile public interest work
The Successful Applicant
- A solicitor or equivalent with 5+ years’ litigation experience in a fast-paced legal environment
- Skilled in public and human rights law, ideally with experience in strategic or public interest litigation
- Committed to rights-based, child-centred practice and ethical legal standards
- Comfortable engaging with children and young people and working collaboratively across disciplines
- Familiar with Scots law, human rights instruments, and UNCRC obligations (desirable)
- Experience in Court of Session litigation with significant experience of conducting the Edinburgh Agency side
