HGV Technician Supervisor – Nights
Salary up to £41,000 p.a. + overtime
Signing bonus £1,000 payable after 6 months service
Working Monday to Thursday 21:00-07:00

Are you an experienced HGV Technician ready to take the next step in your career? Volvo Truck & Bus is looking for a Technician Supervisor to join our Glasgow East team. This is an excellent opportunity to combine your technical expertise with leadership responsibilities in a world-class service environment.

As Technician Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in leading our team of HGV technicians, ensuring all work is carried out efficiently, safely, and to Volvo’s high standards. You’ll act as a hands-on leader, supporting technicians on the shop floor while coordinating workloads, maintaining quality control, and liaising with the Service Manager to meet operational targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and support a team of skilled technicians.
• Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and quality standards are consistently met.
• Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Volvo trucks and buses when required.
• Ensure health & safety and compliance standards are maintained across the workshop.
• Provide training, mentoring, and guidance to develop the team’s skills and performance.
• Work with and supervise a team of technicians to maintain morale and ensure timely, high-quality work.
• Manage customer expectations by coordinating with each stage of the Genuine Volvo Service process.
• Maximise shift performance through problem solving, coaching and development.
• Communicate effectively with the Day Shift Supervisor, CSRs and Parts department to ensure valid job specifications and time budgets before work starts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Supervisor or Team Leader in HGV maintenance.
• Ability to manage and motivate a team of technicians in daily duties.
• Coaching and guidance skills for technician development.
• Effective written and verbal communication at all levels.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, manage workflow and meet deadlines in a busy workshop.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft and IT skills.
