Location: Across Scotland, based from Larkhall, occasionally from Paisley depot or other regional depotsPosition: Full-time, with availability for shift rotations (including potential emergency callouts)Reports to: Operations or Fleet Manager

Your Role:
As a Hydrovac Operator, youll be at the heart of the action, executing precision suction excavation while maintaining our commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate hydrovac trucks using high-pressure water and vacuum systemsperform slot trenching, debris removal, utility exposure, and suction excavation,andgully cleaning/maintenance.
  • Prepare and manage job sitesconduct pre-job hazard assessments, inspect for underground utilities, and set up safe working zones.
  • Safeguard operationsadhere to all safety and environmental protocols, remain alert to ground conditions, and safeguard against line strikes and site hazards.
  • Maintain equipmentperform pre- and post-shift checks, routine maintenance, and promptly report or arrange repairs.
  • Documentation & communicationrecord daily logs, complete required paperwork accurately, and liaise clearly with supervisors, team members, and clients.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Valid HGV license (ideally Class 2 or C) with clean driving record
  • Experience operating hydrovac or vacuum excavation equipment (or similar heavy vehicles)
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and compliance regulations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Physically fit with resilience to work across varying weather and site conditions
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance

Additional (Preferred):

  • CSCS Card for Construction sites
  • Certifications in First Aid, Groundworks, or relevant safety training
  • Experience with emergency response or willingness to be on-call
  • Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and fleet safety programmes
