Job Description

Overview:

We are recruiting for an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations on a variety of civil engineering projects across Aberdeenshire.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all works are carried out safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all on-site activities and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with all HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality) standards
  • Oversee project progress and provide accurate reporting to senior management
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Manage site resources including labour, materials, and plant
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site records (diaries, progress reports, delivery logs)
  • Identify hazards, assess risk, and prepare RAMS as required
  • Deliver job instructions and toolbox talks to the site team
  • Chair or attend site meetings and liaise with clients, consultants, statutory bodies, and stakeholders
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
  • Assist commercial teams with measurement and valuations
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving site issues effectively
  • Support tender reviews and contribute to project delivery strategies
  • Coach and develop site teams, promoting a strong safety culture and positive morale
  • Monitor staff performance and undertake appraisals

Requirements:

  • SMSTS accreditation
  • CSCS (Black or Gold)
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on civil engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, planning, and H&S regulations
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Technical qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline (desirable)
